Context and Artistic Intent

October 1, 2009 Ted Leave a comment

So if you saw this photo from a wedding what would your initial thoughts be?

What are you thoughts on this? Just a reminder that this was creative intent and hand holding bulbing.

It is not often that I do light painting with the bulb function.

To Lindsey + Frank:

I would have finished this faster if I didn’t go to the U2 concert last night..

Thank you for a wonderful time!  Riding the golf cart and shooting you two was the best!  Ok maybe riding the golf cart to be honest… {I kid!}  Pat, thank you again, for letting me second shoot for you!

Really fun couple and I have to say the best man’s speech was just great. :)

Enjoy!

They were literally glowing in this shot and it wasn’t from my PP, though I did accentuate that..

A close up on the bride’s face!  :)

I think Frank’s Dad and the uncle (?) has been supplying the bubbles for these shots.  Sweet!

He was trying to get his children to look at the bench and not notice a guy with a big DSLR… that might be tough.

I think he succeeded

The cake serving utensils… :O  whoa…

Whoa…

I took this before we took a crazy Initial D drift!  {Just kidding!  This is definitely one of my favorites!}

The grandmother is amazing.  She is seriously lively and just full of energy!  :)

You two are awesome!  Much love!

I think I really like this ad.  It is like a lead into a magazine article!

Testing out the 135mm L

August 27, 2009 Ted Leave a comment

I got my 135L lens rental from Glass and Gear a truly awesome camera rental shop!  I use them for all my rentals!  And let me tell you, this lens … it is going to change my shooting habits and lens purchases!  It is absolutely the sharpest lens Canon offers, I am not the only testifying that, check out all the reviews!  And it is only $900ish.  $900…

Well here are some samples from around the university!

So all in all, I love this lens and Margot and Chris are going to love the results from their rehearsal dinner on Friday!  I can’t wait for it and to buy this lens!!  Donations are accepted!  :D

Weddings was actually a family business??

August 27, 2009 Ted Leave a comment

When I was younger, my mother used to be a seamstress for David’s Bridal.  She would take my two older brothers and myself there to take care of us while she worked.  Call it the ultimate daycare, of course the manager on duty did not mind.  My brothers and I would run amok among the wedding dresses with our GI Joes while my mother would alter dresses for brides to be.  During summers when school was out, my brothers and I would be there for most of the day if we weren’t at karate (which was next door) and goof around.

The most scary event, was when my older brother Eric and I, brought the turn over pizza that my mother ordered into the store and … KER-PLOP!  We spilt tomato sauce … onto the floor, thank fully!  No one was there other than my mom, Eric, and myself, so we quickly cleaned up the mess and the turnover pizza.  Yes we believe in the 5 second rule.

Then when David’s Bridal, in that area, closed, my mother was able to take a ton of those dresses home and did alterations on the side.  For a little while.  Today, she does not do alterations anymore, but I carry on the wedding “business” as a photographer.

Some fun history.  :)
